The Rissanen Hall (or Rissasen Hovi in Finnish) is a venerable house located in the infamous Tirilä-area of Lappeenranta, one of the easternmost towns in Finland.
The house was built in 1937 by locomotive operator Sulo Evert Moisio, born in 1906. Moisio worked for the nearby sawmill Kaukas that still at this day casts a smelly shadow over honest inhabitants of the rural town. In the year the house was built, there were 10 people living in this address at the same time according to the well preserved house documentation.
Years went by and people moved in and out of the house Moisio built. In 1990-s there was a major renovation made and the house assumed the form it has now. Also, there was an additional building built next to the original house.
Came year 2009. There had been tens of respected owners and inhabitants in the house. Tommi Rissanen decided to move back to his own hometown Lappeenranta. As his brother Lasse was also looking for a new place to live, they decided to combine their assets and acquired the house, which they instantly named as Rissanen Hall. Some might in their weakness see the name a bit pompous considering that the house was bought solely on loan money and that the brothers that immediately began calling each other as Masters had no money or other assets at all, only big mouths and immense self confidence. Much do the Masters care.
